1. John Dalton (1766 - 1844)

Originator of modern atomic theory which states that matter is composed of atoms that can not be further subdivided. Each - each element consists of atoms with identical properties and mass, and compounds are formed when atoms of different elements combine in a fixed composition.

2. Amadeo Avogadro (1776 - 1856)

An Italian scientist who sparked through hopotesisnya Avogadro's law that "at the same pressure and temperature, the gases have the same volume the same number of particles".

3. Humphry Davy (1778 - 1829)

A scientist who succeeded in extracting metals sodium and potassium from hidroksidanya through electrolysis. He is known as a pioneer of electrolysis of the research results.

4. James Prescott Joule (1818 - 1889)

A scientist who formulated the law of conservation of energy, namely "Energy can neither be created nor in musnakan".

5. John Tyndall (1820 - 1893)

An English scientist who proposed the event of light scattering by colloidal particles known as Tyndal effect. Tyndall effect can be used to distinguish sistemkoloid and true solution.

6. Friedrich Kekulé (1829 - 1896)

Chemist who is known as the ring because it successfully reveals how the six carbon atoms of benzene molecules bind to the six hydrogen atoms.

7. Sir William Crookes (1829 - 1919)

Scientists from Britain who argued that merukana cathode ray particles are negatively charged, has mass, and is owned by all the material.

8. Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleyev (1834 - 1907)

Russian chemist who created the system based on improved periodek elements' atomic numbers ". this number indicates the number of protons contained in the nucleus of an atom. the number of protons equals the number of electrons surrounding the atom-free.

9. Henri Louis Le Chatelier (1850-19360)

A French chemist who did research on chemical equilibrium, and present one of the equilibrium principle is "if the action is something done a certain equilibrium, then the equilibrium will be shifted to eliminate the impact of the action".

10.Svante Arrhenius (1859-1927)

A scientist Sweden who got Hadia Nobel Prize for his work on ionization. He suggested that the compounds in solution can be decomposed into ions her, and the strength of the acid in solution aqua depending on the concentration of hydrogen ions in it.

Here are some fun and interesting chemistry facts for you. 

  • The only elements that are liquid at room temperature are bromine and mercury. However, you can melt gallium by holding a lump in the warmth of your hand.

  • Unlike many substances, water expands as it freezes. An ice cube takes up about 9% more volume than the water used to make it.
  • If you pour a handful of salt into a full glass of water, the water level will actually go down rather than overflowing the glass.
  • There is about 1/2 lb or 250 g of salt (NaCl) in the average adult human body.
  • A pure element can take many forms. For example, diamond and graphite both are forms of pure carbon.
  • The chemical name for water (H2O) is dihydrogen monoxide.
  • Lightning strikes produce O3, which is ozone, and strengthen the ozone layer of the atmosphere.
  • The only two non-silvery metals are gold and copper.
  • Although oxygen gas is colorless, the liquid and solid forms of oxygen are blue.
  • The human body contains enough carbon to provide 'lead' (which is really graphite) for about 9,000 pencils.

THE CARBON FACTS

Carbon - The Chemical Basis for Life

1.  Carbon is the basis for organic chemistry, as it occurs in all living organisms. 

2.  Carbon is a nonmetal that can bond with itself and many other chemical elements
      forming nearly ten million compounds

3.  Elemental carbon can take the form of one of the hardest substances (diamond) or one of 
      the softest (graphite).

4.  Carbon is made in the interiors of stars, though it was not produced in the Big Bang.
5.  Carbon compounds have limitless uses. In its elemental form, diamond is a gemstone   
      and  used for drilling/cutting; graphite is used in pencils, as a lubricant, and to protect 
      against rust; while charcoal is used to remove toxins, tastes, and odors. The isotope 
      Carbon-14 is used in radiocarbon dating.

6. Carbon has the highest melting/sublimation point of the elements. The melting point of  
     diamond is ~3550°C, with the sublimation point of carbon around 3800°C.
    
7.  Pure carbon exists free in nature and has been known since prehistoric time.

8.  The origin of the name 'carbon' comes from the Latin word carbo, for charcoal. The 
     German and French words for charoal are similar.

9.  Pure carbon is considered non-toxic, although inhalation of fine particles, such as soot,  
     can damage lung tissue.

10. Carbon is the fourth most abundant element in the universe (hydrogen, helium, and 
       oxygen are found in higher amounts, by mass).

Our journey in the world of ICT became more exciting. Every week, i found out that myself being more intelligent. i love it.


9. PREZI (Group 8)

Prezi is a presentation tool that helps you organize and share your ideas.

At first glance, Prezi  may seem like an inferior example of presentation software. But closer inspection reveals that Prezi  is simply so unique, comparing it to traditional slideshow makers . Prezi displays information not as a series of slides, but as one large board that zooms in on specific information or images..



With Prezi, a presentation is created as a whole board. You lay out the information and visual aids however you like, then you create a “path” for the pan-and-zoom functions to follow. The end result? A presentation that starts with one bit of information, zooms out, pans to another bit of information, zooms in, etc. Certainly an interesting alternative to typical slideshow presentation.

   You can add text and multimedia items, like photo, video and audio files. There are two cookie-cutter shape options, as well as the word processing ability to do bulleted text. There are also 10 themes to choose from, which include color palates and fonts. You can create your own theme and save it for future use, as well. And there is a form of paragraph style functionality – you can preset three styles and choose from them when you create text blocks.

10.  Microsoft Power Point (Mouse Mischief )

 Very useful while carried out a lesson in a class room. This tool can help teacher to make sure their student are paying attention.

 

What is it exacly? 

Mouse Mischief integrates into Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 and Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, letting you insert questions, polls, and drawing activity slides into your lessons.
Students can actively participate in these lessons by using their own mice to click, circle, cross out, or draw answers on the screen.


  
Microsoft Mouse Mischief is a new free add-on to Microsoft PowerPoint. Mouse Mischief is designed as an inexpensive alternative to clicker-type response systems. Mouse Mischief allows teachers to put multiple choice questions into their PowerPoint slides. Students can then answer the questions using mice connected to their teacher's computer. Mouse Mischief works with both wired and wireless mice. You can learn more and download Mouse Mischief here.
Applications for EducationI have not had a chance to try Mouse Mischief with students yet, but it seems like it could be a good way to get feedback from students during a lesson. If you're school already has Microsoft PowerPoint for teachers, this is a nice free addition for you.

My name is Nor Azilawaty bt Azmi. I was graduated from University Science of Malaysia in course of chemical engineering but somehow i found out that teaching is a fascinating job.
